Do you know what a print spooler is? A printer spooler is a service that allows the print-related work to run while providing you seamless interactions with your printer. You can stop this from functioning by restarting the printer or the computer.
Sometimes, due to problems with the printer or the computer, the document you are working on might get stuck while you are printing. In other cases, it can also be due to the printer spooler in Windows 10 OS. The worst of the problems you might face is that your computer and the printer getting stuck when you try to cancel the print function.
Luckily, you can stop, start or restart printer spooler yourself. The steps are discussed below.
Click on the windows icon at the bottom of your screen and search for Services in the search box. You will find Services with Apps written below it.
In the Services window, you can go to the right side of the pane to find PrinterSpooler. Once you single click on it, a brief description of the spooler will appear on the right side of the screen.
If the status of the PrinterSpooler is not Running, you can either right-click context menu or select the Start shown on the left hand side pane, above the description of the service.
You can also do the same with a much simpler but long process. You need to double click on the Printer Spooler. The system will show you a General tab in which you will find the Start option under the ServiceStatus option. Click on the Start and later on OK to save the changes you made.
If the Printer Spooler is already running (and the status shown is also Running), you can restart it. The Restart service will be shown on the left side of the pane under the Stop service. Or you can right click on the Printer Spooler option on the right side and choose the Restart option shown in the context menu.
Stopping the spooler from working is not a difficult task. You can select the action from the left side pane which shows the description of the app when you click on the Printer Spooler. You can simply select Stop. Alternatively, you can also right click on the Printer Spooler option and select the Stop from the context menu to stop Print Spooler.
You can also stop the app by double clicking on the Printer Spooler and selecting the Stop in the General tab under the Service Status.
Following these steps will let you start, restart or stop the printer spooler easily.
